Pepper approached UA looking to refine their current branding to better suit their target audience. Following rapid growth, they recognized a need to better define their brand identity to lend to consistent and compelling creative throughout their marketing efforts.

We provided a range of options that showcased what the Pepper evolution could be. We wanted a fresh, grown up look for Pepper that also considered the sensitivities of an established audience.

After sharing many options, the brand opted to approve a refined version of their logo. We played on the kerning of the logotype to play off of their brand tagline - Take Up Space.

In order to give the brand a more ownable mark they could play with, we create an abstract design that visualize the chambers of a sliced pepper. These three chambers, or the radial repeat of the element, symbolizes the three sizes their product lines cover.

Pepper creates brand differentiation through their bold and playful messaging. The typography was designed to lend itself to those needs. We paired a playful flared font with sans serif that was clean but not boring to give the brand lots of runway for type pairing and usage.

For color selections, we considered and adjusted heritage colors such as a bright green and lavender while introducing well performing colors that also allowed for seasonality and versatility. We defined a primary, secondary and neutral palette that allowed for functional use throughout digital creative.

In order to set the brand up for successful use of their refreshed identity, we created a comprehensive document outline the new brand elements and their usage.

We included a in-house refresh of the brand story along with a runway for the art direction that left room for growth and evolution.

Pepper has a robust approach to social media and was in need of solid guidance for their in-house designers to create compelling creative.

We provided the brand with a toolkit of elements that would afford them a broad range of options for designing engaging content.
